Twelve years. When I look back on my journey with Diyaryo Pinoy, I cannot help but feel grateful and remember the people who made this beautiful chapter of my life possible.
As Diyaryo Pinoy celebrates its 12th anniversary, I am excited to be with the people behind this publication, sharing in the joy of reaching another milestone. For me, this is more than an anniversary celebration. It is a reunion of friends I rarely see—and some I have yet to know—and a tribute to a publication that has endured through the years.
I have been with Diyaryo Pinoy from Day One. I began this journey with my beloved friend, the late Linda Bohol, whose faith in me opened the door to my life as a columnist. Linda was more than a colleague. She was a mentor, a trusted friend, a kumare, and someone whose kindness and encouragement helped me discover what I could contribute through writing. I will always be grateful that our paths crossed and that our friendship became part of my journalistic journey.
Behind this publication was the late Jerry Yap, whose vision and determination helped build a platform for writers and people with stories to tell. His commitment to the media community left a mark that continues to be remembered by those who worked with him. The publication's continuing journey is a reminder that the work of those who came before us can live on through the people they inspired.
And then there is Linda. Whenever I think of the early days, I remember not only the work we shared but also the friendship that made everything more meaningful. Her passing left an emptiness that words can hardly describe. Yet her legacy remains in the lives she touched and the opportunities she helped create.
I sometimes wonder what Jerry and Linda would say if they could see us now. I would like to believe they are smiling down on us from heaven, happy that the publication they helped build has reached its 12th year and that the people they brought together continue to carry its spirit forward.
Twelve years in publishing is no small achievement. Behind every issue and article are people who give their time and energy to keep the pages alive. To the present team, the publisher, the editors, the writers, the staff, and everyone working quietly behind the scenes, congratulations and thank you for keeping the flame burning.
I will always remain grateful for the opportunity to share my thoughts and connect with readers through Diyaryo Pinoy. Writing has always been more than putting words on paper. It is an opportunity not only to inform, but also to remind people that there is still goodness in the world.
